If we're friends on the Facebook or Insta, then you know that I was in Miami last week for Art Basel. I'd been toying with the idea of attending the Sunshine State's art gathering for some time now and boy, did I not regret it. One of my best girls just moved back to miami this past summer, so it was also the perfect excuse to pay her a visit. I'll be sharing more of my pics in a post later this week, so keep checking back for lots of street art and other shenanigans.
Moving along, one of the season's big trends is the flippy skirt, or the frill skirt, or the flounce skirt, or the ruffle skirt -- whatever you wanna call it. It's a skirt, it's mini, and there are lots of rounded folds that make it look full. I think that would be an accurate description. Anyway, it's one of those really feminine pieces that can go cutesy in a half second... and that's not exactly my style, but for some reason, I gravitate towards that shape. Therefore to wear it, it needs to be counter balanced. The top I'm wearing for this look is actually a suede men's tank, so it's got that ideal oversized slouch. Heels could have worked in this case, like a bootie, but for ogling art and gallery hopping, I needed to be in flats and the season's other big trend, the slip-on sneaker, acted as the cherry on my sartorial sundae.
PS the mural in the background is by artist Alexander Mijares.
